48 REGGAE / DANCEHALL GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS ETANA Self- expression, positivity and love... but as 'the strong one' explains, "it won't be the usual." She's currently working on her third album which is rumoured to be set for release this year. Going by her past two albums, Free Expressions and her debut The Strong One, we might be expecting the same vibes but, of this new release, Etana has said that it has "a very happy, party- in- the- park feel... it's a definite collector's item." Five years ago Etana hit the music scene and to this day, she's still going strong. Dubbed 'the strong one' from the themes she talks about (and it's also the name of the first album), Etana, born Shauna McKenzie, is an artist that certainly has more to offer! It can be perceived that many newer artists are turning away from conscious music but Etana certainly isn't. With a message and voice that has the ability to soothe its listeners; it's no wonder she's been a success so far. "Overall, my music has to uplift. It can't just be that I go in a studio and string words together. My music must have a message; it must have a purpose..." Etana is certainly fulfilling her wishes as her fan base continues to grow worldwide through her positivity and messages about love, pride and injustices within society. The two previous albums have brought something different to the table and so we're eagerly anticipating the release of the third.
