46 INDIE / ROCK TECHNOLOGY ARTIST OF THE MONTH DRY THE RIVER Issue 36 / FEBRUARY 2012 GET INSPIRED AT THE LONDON BASS GUITAR SHOW Returning to the Olympia Conference Centre on the 3rd & 4th of March 2012, the London Bass Guitar Show brings globally recognised bass players to the UK. Oh yeah! East London-based outfit, taking the music world by storm with their mutant sound. Dry The River formed in 2009. They describe their style as "folky gospel music played by a post-punk band.'' Critics have labelled them ''grime-pop'' and ''folk-rock'', but no matter what you call it, there is one thing that looks certain: 2012 is going to be a big year for Dry The River. Playing out of East London, the lead singer Peter Liddle is originally from Norway. The past three years have really seen this band be- gin to blossom. The UK mar- ket spotted this outfit when they'd barely been together a year. In 2010 the BBC invited them to play their Introduc- ing stage at Glastonbury. In 2011 Dry the River played more festivals including Lovebox, Leeds, Reading and Greenman. With their first album due for release in Feb- ruary and UK and US tours scheduled, Dry The River will be very busy over the next few months. Hopefully TGN can grab an interview with them once things settle down a bit. Good luck, guys. We're right behind you. Prepare to learn new techniques in the masterclass suite and be inspired by main stage performances from inspirational artists. If you need a new bass or any related equipment, head to the exhibition hall where you'll find leading brands at exclusive show discount prices. Artists confirmed include Jamiroquai's bassist (with his band Shuffler), TM Stevens (performing with Swans In Flight), Yolanda Charles, Andrew Levy, John Thorne, Tony Butler and Neil Murray with more artists to be announced soon. Tickets are £15 in advance, £20 at the door. For more information visit: www.londonbassguitarshow. com FEBRUARY RELEASES DR.
