16 FESTIVAL Issue 36 / FEBRUARY 2012 THE WORLD'S FINEST FESTIVALS The Guestlist Network feel you should look further afield for your festival kicks. You're spoilt for choice. Here are our top 6 of the world's finest festivals. COACHELLA Fashion and music collide in California. 13th - 15th & 20th - 22nd April @ California The Coachella Valley Festival is an annual event held over two weekends at The Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The festival brings together some of the top acts from around the world. From Madonna to Morrisey, numerous legends have graced the festival with performances in the past. This year's line up includes Radiohead, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre and The Black Keys. Coachella is also notorious for its celebrity audi- ence. Socialites Peaches Geldof and Lindsay Lohan are regular attendees turning out to enjoy the happy music vibes and chill in the sun. If you want tickets, move quickly as they often sell out in less than a day. But be warned: Coachella is no Reading or Leeds. Jettison your hoodie and galoshes in favour of some high heels and a designer dress. Coachella is all about looking fabulous and loving the music. Held in Naeba Ski Resort in the Niiggata Prefecture, there are seven main stages and various other minor stages scat- tered liberally across the site. Spectacularly beautiful alpine views punctuate the picture at regular intervals, drawing your attention as you walk from stage to stage through picturesque forestry and over sparkling streams. If you want a bird's eye view of the festival, you can jump onto Dragondola, the world's longest gondola lift, which elevates you to a lofty perch right at the top of the mountain. The festival boasts some impressive past line ups—artists such as ZZtop, The Foo fighters and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers have all played there previously—and with The Stone Roses and Radiohead already confirmed for this year, we're sure the trend of musical excellence will continue. All-out rock in the shadow of Mount Fuji.
