Issue 34 / December 2011 SNIPER 11 EP Ex-So Solid Crew member takes a turn into a solo career with rocking new release. GUESTLIST.NET HIP HOP / RNB 37 7 LEGEND TUPAC SHAKUR An entertainer, a poet, a universal inspiration, and most importantly, an exceptional human being whose life was tragically cut short. "Can you picture my prophecy? / Stress in the city, the cops is hot for me / The projects is full of bullets, the bodies is droppin' / There ain't no stoppin' me" – 'Me Against The World'. It seems a huge number of artists nowadays are taking an interesting step up from the standard; write a tune, release it, perform it. Sniper, who made his musical debut in UK garage's most familiar and award-winning group, So Solid, is one of these artists who is taking their promotion to new levels with help from that handy little thing called the internet. With his new seemingly rock influenced 11 EP, the former garage and grime star decided to do a fully live performance on radio, TV, at record release parties and on his YouTube channel on the date 11.11.11 across 10 different platforms around the world including London's Choice FM (107.1) and a party in Cyprus, where he's originally from. In over 11 minutes of live music from himself and his backing band we saw a new side to Sniper whose lyrics focus on politics and his view on our lack of freedom in society. In the decade since his reach to fame whilst with So Solid Crew it seems our man Mr Sniper has gone through a bit of a style transformation musically as well as in fashion. The second tune they played on the live performance had a much dancier feel but still carried with it an essence of rock - think something along the lines of The Prodigy or even better check him out at to find out first hand! From beefing with his East Coast peers to catching cases with the police, Tupac's life was full of the drama most of these 'street-credible' rappers can only dream about. He had the guts to speak about issues that were con- sidered to be no interest to hip hop. Raised by a single mother under a stressful and dangerous environment, 2Pac beat the odds on a major level. His first album, 2Pacalypse Now, intro- duced the world to the then young but wise and amazing human being. His dedication led him to do movies with the likes of Janet Jackson. May his soul rest in peace and he will no doubt always be remembered by all. EVENT PREVIEW TINCHY STRYDER 13th November @ Scala TYLER DALEY This hot new piece of talent is one to watch this month. GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS Stryderman is back and proved that he is a real star in the hood. Encore came on stage as one of the support acts with their very glittery DJ. Being new to the game they put on a good performance and their swagger got the crowd hyped. Although we did enjoy them - Tinchy was what the crowd came to see. So when the main man came on stage the crowd went crazy. His entrance looked like he was coming into the ring and about to entertain the masses. From the moment he started he went in hard, his stage presence was on point, wearing his dark shades and a T-shirt from his very own label - he was bringing out all the tunes that we love him for. Track 'Number 1' got everyone with one finger in the air, 'Spaceship', 'Take Me Back', 'Never leave You' and 'You're Not Alone' had everyone singing along. His backing vocalist was also a highlight hitting notes that made the crowd clap every time she came on the stage. Overall an absolutely wicked night out!
