He is also a Six Sigma Expert and a member of the Sedona Conference WG1. _______________________________________________________ Mary Abraham – Counsel at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP Mary is Counsel with Debevoise & Plimpton LLP and a member of the firm's Corporate Department, where she has practiced since 1991. She is responsible for the U.S.-law non-litigation knowledge management efforts of the firm. In that capacity, she has helped lead implementation of key KM technology, including a knowledge portal and social media tools. _______________________________________________________ Pedro Acosta – Senior Systems/Network Engineer at McAngus, Goudelock & Courie, L.L.C. Pedro has more than 10 years experience in computer systems, client/server environments. He is a Microsoft Certified System Engineer, VMware Certified Professional and Citrix Engineer, with a focus on Disaster Recovery and Messaging (Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007), before focusing primarily in messaging and virtualization. Pedro's practice has included general consulting for Lockheed Martin IT and CGI Inc. He is part of the VMware Users Group for South Carolina, and Microsoft Exchange Users Group President for Columbia. _______________________________________________________ Michael Aginsky – Chief Technology Officer at Gibbons P.C. Michael is the Chief Technology Officer at Gibbons P.C. where he has worked since 2001. He originally joined the firm as an applications developer and is now responsible for defining the firm's evolving technology vision and manages across all aspects of the firm's technology. _______________________________________________________ John Alber – Strategic Technology Partner at Bryan Cave, LLP John leads Bryan Cave's award-winning Client Technology group. That group develops innovative Web-based, client-facing decision support, training and client communication tools. It has also become widely known for developing leading edge internal decision support, knowledge management and client intelligence systems for Bryan Cave. _______________________________________________________ Andrea Alliston – Director of Knowledge Management at Stikeman Elliott LLP Andrea is responsible for strategic direction of knowledge management in Toronto, leading knowledge management initiatives and spearheading programs to capture and leverage intellectual capital. She oversees the Toronto Knowledge Management Team and leads the development and enhancement of the firm's extensive precedent and legal resources collection. Prior to becoming a knowledge management lawyer, Andrea practised corporate law with the firm for six years. _______________________________________________________ Major General (retired) John D Altenburg Jr. – Of Counsel at Greenberg Traurig Major General John Altenburg (USA, Retired) focuses his practice on contract litigation and international law. The scope of his practice includes corporate and governmental representation, both domestic and international, including multilateral development bank and federal agency debarment proceedings. General Altenburg served 28 years as a lawyer in the Army, where he represented the Army before Congress, numerous state and local governments, and in court in the United States and Germany. He advised, counseled, and negotiated at all levels within the Army, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Justice, frequently on matters of great interest to Members of Congress and the national media. He served as the Deputy Judge Advocate General for the Department of the Army from 1997 to 2001. _______________________________________________________ Shy Alter – CEO at ii3 In addition to his role in executive management, Shy regularly works with solution teams to develop practical solutions to complex knowledge and information management challenges. Shy has been working with professional services organizations as well as law firms to identify strategic goals, practical solutions and successful adoption practices for their knowledge and information management solutions related to enterprise search, portals, document management systems and more. _______________________________________________________ Marie Alvarez – National Marketing Communications Manager at Loeb & Loeb LLP Marie is responsible for planning and executing practice development initiatives and creating mechanisms to further enhance internal information sharing and knowledge management for business development purposes at the firm. Her role includes conducting in-depth research on clients, targets, industries, competition and the firm's complex transactions and matters used for all marketing materials. Marie is also the marketing department's main liaison among various service providers including for the firm's website and various research tools. Dan Anderson – VP of Sales and Marketing at SeeUnity Dan is a co-founder and Executive Vice President for SeeUnity. He brings more than 15 years of experience selling enterprise software solutions for enterprise content management, business process management and enterprise content integration. Prior to starting SeeUnity, Dan worked for Hummingbird National as an account manager and was consistently a top performer. _______________________________________________________ Neil Araujo – VP Professional Services Marketing at Interwoven, Inc. Prior to his current role, Neil was responsible for product management for the WorkSite product and came to Interwoven via the iManage merger. Neil was one of the founders of iManage and played a prominent role in spearheading the company's product direction as well as overall business strategy in the legal and professional services market. _______________________________________________________ Patrick Archbold – Intapp, Inc. Pat helps law firms address issues including client confidentiality, regulatory compliance and risk management. He currently co-chairs the United Kingdom's Confidentiality Working Group and chairs a regular series of peer risk discussion forums held periodically across the United States as part of the Law Firm Risk Roundtable program. _______________________________________________________ Jerry Askew – Principal Consultant at Askew Network Solutions Jerry is a legal technology expert with 19 years of experience in IT including CIO and IT director positions in top AmLaw firms. Askew Network Solutions has provided services to firms with as few as 40 attorneys to as many as 3,000. _______________________________________________________ Peter Attwood – Chief Technical Officer at Simmons & Simmons Peter is the Chief Technical Officer at international law firm Simmons & Simmons. He is responsible for providing strategic technical direction to the firm and is part of the IT management team. Peter started his career at a software house developing Know How systems for law firms and has 20 years of IT experience. _______________________________________________________ Bret Baccus – Huron Consulting Group Bret has been serving the legal industry since 1990. He works with law firm management on strategic planning and operational topics. Bret assists with the design, planning and management of operational changes, and he assists clients with achieving sustainable cost controls, providing an effective infrastructure to support the organization, delivering on client case and budget management expectations and responding to the increased complexities of electronic billing and collections operations. Having worked with both law departments and law firms, Bret uniquely understands the intricacies of law firms and the demands of corporate clients. _______________________________________________________ Tom Baldwin – Chief Knowledge Officer at Reed Smith Tom helps assess technology tools that increase efficiency, streamline processes and improve productivity for the Reed Smith's lawyers and its clients. He was named 2005 Legal IT Innovator of the Year by the Legal IT Forum, and was featured on the cover of the Nov/Dec 2005 issue of Law Firm Inc. magazine. Tom was a member of the management team that won the CIO 100 Award in 2002 from CIO Magazine. He serves on the advisory boards of Law Technology News,, the Cal State Fullerton Knowledge Management Advisory Board and LexisNexis. Tom also serves as ILTA's Southern California Regional Vice President. _______________________________________________________ Laura Bandrowsky – Practice Support Director at Duane Morris LLP Laura manages the firm's Practice Support Group, which provides in-house technical consulting services to the attorneys at Duane Morris' offices throughout the world. These services include needs assessment; project management; training for the firm's legal staff on legal technology; the design and implementation of databases; computer forensics; electronic evidence retrieval; transcript management; optical character recognition; and trial consulting and presentation services. Laura has been advising on the use of technology in the support of the practice of law and managing complex cases for over 25 years. She frequently speaks on topics related to the technological aspects of the legal profession. _______________________________________________________ Ash Banerjee – Chief Information Officer at WilmerHale Ash joined WilmerHale in 2008 and is responsible for Information Services, comprising knowledge and content management, library and research services, records management and information technology. He was previously the Global Chief Information Officer of EMI Music.
